Synopsis
Set against the backdrop of contemporary London, BOOGIE WOOGIE is a tongue-in-cheek look at the international art scene, in which lust, ambition and power prevail and where success and failure rest on a knife edge.
When a powerful art dealer played by Danny Huston (THE CONSTANT GARDENER, WOLVERINE) becomes aware of a priceless painting, he unleashes all his powers of persuasion to encourage its owners, an aging couple down on their luck, to part with their prized possession. However, when his assistant leaks this information to her lover - a wealthy art collector about to open a new gallery (Stellan Skarsgård - PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and MAMMA MIA!) the situation becomes complicated and the scheming begins.
Meanwhile, we observe the artists and curators all desperately vying for the attention of the dealers and collectors, some of whom are willing to use any means necessary to achieve their ambitions. These include a talented and ambitious video artist (Jaime Winstone – DONKEY PUNCH) who creates a ‘Self Portrait' which includes her explicit exploits with her lovers, a well-meaning but out-of-his-depth curator (Alan Cumming - X MEN) and a slightly sinister secretary (Simon McBurney - THE DUCHESS). When all their stories collide, the results are both depraved and extreme. No one's lives with ever be the same again.
This satire features all-star British and US talent including Gillian Anderson (X FILES, LAST KING OF SCOTLAND), Heather Graham (BOOGIE NIGHTS, THE HANGOVER and AUSTIN POWERS), Christopher Lee (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), Joanna Lumley (ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS), Charlotte Rampling (THE SWIMMING POOL), and Amanda Seyfried (MEAN GIRLS, MAMMA MIA!).
