Synopsis
Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D will give fans the chance to live the fun, the friends, the songs and the moments that make Kenny Chesney the must-see concert experience that brings summer to life. Filmed over six nights in five locations -- Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, Boston, and Indianapolis -- during the more than million ticket-selling Sun City Carnival Tour, this high energy film captures a whole new perspective on the 4-time Country Music Association and 4 consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year's intense shows.
Beyond the full-tilt performances, captured from onstage, the front row, the back row, the wings and even the Goodyear Blimp, there is extensive archival footage, behind the scenes moments and photographs held together by Chesney's own narrative, taking people inside the life, the love and the reasons for his unprecedented success. The narrative pieces are Chesney at his most open and unguarded -- and offer a true insight into one of pop culture's most private icons.
Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D is directed by Joe Thomas, a music industry veteran who has recorded such artists ranging from Billy Idol to Paul McCartney to Brian Wilson to Elton John, and as director and producer, has shot over 100 concerts, including Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews, Tom Petty, in high definition and digital surround sound. The movie was shot in stereoscopic 3D by 3ality Digital, the company that produced and shot the groundbreaking U2 3D concert film, and which recently produced the first live 3D concert simulcast in the US with the Black Eyed Peas: all seminal music projects that were supervised by 3ality Digital's head of production and veteran 3D producer/director Ted Kenney.
