Synopsis
A true story about a special group of people and their dream to make music...
For Once In My Life is a documentary film that takes an inspiring journey with the members of the Spirit of Goodwill band. The unique assembly of singers and musicians, all with a wide range of severe mental and physical challenges, share the common factors of music and friendship. The film follows them as they reach to attain a higher level of performance with goals of playing to larger audiences.
Each of the 29 members has varying degrees of abilities -- from Autism, Down syndrome and blindness to other physical, mental and developmental challenges. Music participation has been a great catalyst in improving their lives and the lives of their families. The film witnesses the unyielding struggles that each must overcome to get through a day, much less the preparation for a live performance.
Through inspiring concert footage and intimate behind-the-scenes glimpses into the band member's lives, the film paints a heart-warming portrait of what people with disabilities can do when given a chance.
