You May Now Kiss the Bride...

Synopsis

Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride, the groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day in the countryside until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what's happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind...

Director's Statement

The saga.

When you move on from the second to a third film, the sequel becomes saga. You have to respect the original film, but also give your audience something new. In this third installment, I wanted to add elements of the adventure genre but still maintain the horror theme and the black humor that has been synonymous with the films since the beginning.

The film

We've all been to a wedding at some point in our lives and we know what they're like. Your great uncle has one too many glasses of wine, your cousin's all grown-up and the best man is after the bridesmaid... it's always the same!

The idea for [REC]3 was born out of these well-loved traditions mixed with elements from the classic genre; where hyperrealism and fantastic cinema join forces, where Berlanga takes on Rob Zombie.

The film tells the story of how the happiest day of your life can become a nightmare in the blink of an eye. How you can lose everything that means anything to you. A story where the heroes are ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. It's a zombie film at a wedding reception, where the bride has a chainsaw and is not prepared to let some supernatural creatures ruin her "special day".

From the pen of Luiso Berdejo comes the story which we hope will surprise and entertain. Sorry for not giving out many clues, but I think it's important to know as little as possible so you can truly get sucked in by the film.

So I cordially invite you to check out the new film and remember: love conquers all...although having a chainsaw helps!

About the Filmmaker

Paco Paza (Director)

Plaza's debut feature film, Second Name, used a script that he co-wrote, based on Ramsey Campbell's book of the same name. This film signalled the arrival of this young director as one of the emerging talents of the "fantastic" film genre. Soon thereafter followed the horror thriller Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt, Xmas Tale and then [REC].

Co-directed by Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero, the film was an international success, celebrated by audiences and industry alike. It was precisely this great reception of the film which led them to write and co-direct [REC]2.

Paco Plaza's most recent project, [REC]3 Genesis, sees him taking the directorial reigns single-handedly this time around, although Jaume Balaguero is on board as creative producer of the project. The final film of the [REC] saga, [REC]4 Apocalypse, is to be directed by Balaguero, and will be the film that draws the curtain on the franchise.
